Shape the transition

The transition to the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium is designed to be as seamless as possible. The students are to be introduced slowly to the new school and the working methods of the Gymnasium. This means first arriving at the new school, settling in and learning how to learn at the Gymnasium (increasing learning speed and increasing independence).

  • Before the summer vacations, the "taster session" takes place on the last Monday of the school year from 15:00 to 16:00. The children who transfer to WvSG after the summer vacations meet their class teacher and get to know their new classmates.
  • The school year begins with the familiarization days. On the first day, the solemn welcome takes place first in an ecumenical church service and then in the auditorium. The new students receive their school books, the timetable and the notebook. On the second and third day, the classroom is decorated and the school building is explored. Mentors support the new students.
  • Support band concept AAA (work behavior - attention - respect and esteem): At the beginning of Grade 5, students experience many details in short sessions at the beginning of various lessons during the first nine weeks that help practice work behavior at the Gymnasium, promote attentiveness in learning, and enrich everyone's interactions at school.   • The experiential education hiking day of the Raesfeld Nature Adventure School serves to strengthen the class community.

  • Feedback sheet at the end of the first half-year in grades 5 and 6: Since the report only indirectly says something about the work behavior and nothing about the social behavior, the students of the trial level receive a feedback sheet with the half-year report, which can be viewed at the appropriate place.
