At this year’s English reading competition, the best readers from grades 5 through 8 showcased their talent for reading English-language texts. After two students were selected from each class, they competed against one another in the school finals on July 13, 2026.
The participants presented English-language texts with great expression and confidence. In addition to confident and accurate pronunciation, the judges evaluated an appropriate reading pace, a volume that was easy to understand, expressive intonation, and the authenticity of the presentation. The goal was to present the text in a lively and convincing manner.
The jury—which included Ms. Holthaus, Ms. Nolte, four students from the EF class, and a native speaker—was impressed by the high quality of the entries. The students made it difficult for the jury members to select the winners.
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participants on their performance. The English reading competition is an integral part of our school life and promotes not only language proficiency but also self-confidence, presentation skills, and a passion for the English language.
A heartfelt thank you to the knowledgeable student representatives on the jury—Amber Fazlic, Aurora Lodewijk, Lili van der Wals, Victoria Wart, and Anna Weßling.
